Let's Go Spartans!

St Lorenz Athletics

St. Lorenz athletics has a long, rich history of excellence. The exclamation, “Let’s go Spartans! Let’s go Spartans!” has been used to spur on generations of St. Lorenz athletes. While it has been used many times, it is our privilege and goal to continue that same level of excellence with our students and families today. Invitation to all!

Being part of athletics at St. Lorenz is not a right for each fifth through eighth grade student, but a privilege. We do not have a pay-to-play policy, nor do we cut athletes. If a fifth through eighth grader who meets minimum academic, social, and behavioral expectations chooses to play a sport, they are expected to work hard toward individual improvement to contribute to the team’s success. They are also expected to do well in their academic work and conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner both on and off the court/field.

In mid-Michigan, we are blessed to compete against other Lutheran schools in the Tri-County Lutheran League (TCLL). The TCLL is a 3-Divisional conference consisting of eighteen schools in the North, Central, and Eastern Divisions. St. Lorenz fields two teams in most sports. If the need arises, intramural opportunities (such as 5th grade volleyball) as well as playing in additional opposing conferences (such as the Valley Parochial League) are possibilities.

In the fall, sports range from cross country, soccer and volleyball. Basketball is offered in the winter. In the spring, track is offered along with one day special tournaments for specific grade levels in boys’ volleyball and girls’ soccer.

Here at St. Lorenz, we strive for our sports to be an avenue for our athletes to honor God while ministering to others. Placing God first in every area of life and giving Him the “first fruits”, the best effort, is the calling of all Christian students. It is our desire that all St. Lorenz students develop Christ-like character, a sense of personal responsibility, and a loving concern for all people. Therefore, it is expected that every student do what is right in the eyes of God, treat others with respect, and work hard mentally as well as physically to reach his/her God given potential. Join us as we preserve the joy of the game and bring glory to our Lord and Savior!
